Gary Doust
Our condolences to Gary's family and friends on behalf of all Voyagers over their recent loss of a much beloved family member.
It is my sad duty to once again make an entry for ex-Voyager shipmate and a survivor. Gary passed away yesterday (16th March 2011) after battling ill health for some time.
Gary joined the RAN in July 1962 and DEE'd in January 1970. He was born in Grafton, NSW in 1944. Crossed the Bar at the age of 66.
During his Naval career he served in the following Bases and Ship's.
HMAS Cerberus, Anzac, Sydney, Voyager, Watson, Penguin, Parramatta, Albatross, Platypus and Queenborough. He traveled to Vietnam on HMAS Parramatta in 1965.
The service for Gary will be held at the Tweed Heads Crematorium, Sunshine Av Tweed Heads on the 22nd March at 10:30am QLD time. (11:30am NSW time)
Serving and ex Service persons attending are requested to wear medals.
The Currumbin R.S.L., as part of their ANZAC Commemorations 2011, will include a Memorial to Gary and as part of the Dawn Service, his Ashes will be scattered at Sea.
Farewell shipmate and may you always have smooth seas and fair winds on this final voyage.
