Very sadly I post this for a long standing Navy shipmate. Brian and I were in "L" School together and had many memorable times ashore during our Naval careers. He will be sadly missed by many shipmates.
I pass on condolences on behalf of all ex Voyager shipmates and Navy mates to his family and friends and wish him calm seas and fair winds on this his final voyage.
Brian Victor Long BEM, passed away peacefully yesterday, 29/08/2011, at Hollywood Hospital in Perth after a long battle with Emphysema.
Enlisted 28/7/1958 DEE July 1970 (12 years service)
Rate CPO(WE)
DoB 20/4/1941
Crossed the Bar 29/8/2011 70 years
Ships and Bases - Cerberus, Melbourne, Watson, Lonsdale, Woomera, Voyager (Survivor) 7/1/64 - 10/2/64, Penguin, Quiberon, Duchess,Yarra.
The service will be next Thursday, September 9th at Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park Crematorium (Whitfords Avenue, Padbury WA),
starting at 1100hrs and concluding at 1300hrs.
Location for the wake will be confirmed at the service, and Family will be having it at a private residence. You can also email me (Les Sheehan) for the details.
All serving and ex service persons attending are requested to wear medals.
