It is with very deep sadness I post this entry today for a ex RAN matelot, ex Voyager shipmate and long known mate.

Bernie enlisted in the RAN on the 10th April 1961 in the engineering (Stokers) branch.
Bernie was born in Wales in 1943 and crossed the bar at the young age of 68
He served in many ships and depots and also a Voyager survivor.

Bernie will be missed by many shipmates and friends as he ventures forth on his final voyage to Heaven's Harbour.

The following entry by Les Sheehan on behalf of Mike Mullins

Bernie passed away on the 7th of October 2012 peacefully, he leaves behind his beloved wife Janet, his four boys to( Nancy deceased) and his beloved grand children. I met Bernie when we first joined the navy in 1961 and we were inseparable, we were on the Voyager together when the Voyager sank. We both went to America for a year and commissioned H.M.A.S. Hobart where we both went to Vietnam .

Bernie has been my long time friend / brother for over 50 years, When we caught up it was like old times we would hug one another and Bernie would always give me a kiss he didn’t mind any where any time and he would say I love you Mickey!

Bernie married Janet this year, I have never seen him as happy as he was with her, Janet was his first love in the 60s. and his last love to the end. Janet loved Bernie knowing he had cancer and she was an angel without wings, nothing was too hard for her, My wife Bev and I spent many short holidays together with Janet and Bernie, and even when he was in pain he always tried to smile with his cheeky smile and a smart remark.

Bernie may not be here but he is in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Farewell my friend until we meet again, Love you Bern,
Mike Mullins.
