Shipmates,
We have received a communication regarding an ex Vampire Crewman, David John Carter, asking if anyone knew David or served with him in Vampire during 1966 and 1969. David was born 31/12/1947 in England, his service number is R64081 and his rank was Able Seaman Quartermaster Gunner.
He also served in Sydney in 1972.
Unfortunately, David is suffering very badly with Dementia and is now in Concord Repat Hospital and the Vietnam Vets at Granville are trying to obtain a service pension for him but they need someone who served with David who maybe able to identify him to help obtain the pension. David is in a very bad situation with no one to help him and no ID, money, clothing or anything and he only remembers that he was a sailor and served in Vampire.
If anyone can help with any information on David John Carter, either contact Bill Roberts (VVFA Granville) on 0296826134 or Tom Jenkins on 0449563026 or you can contact our Association Secretary, Sandra Sherwell on 0295200562 or email: ksherwel@bigpond.net.au
Thank you.
Kind regards,
