It is with much regret that I inform you of the passing of a shipmate and long time friend, Doug Manners. who crossed the bar on the 2nd May 2014. Doug had been battling Cancer for some time and was just starting further treatment.
Doug was 72 years of age.
Doug is survived by wife Sylvia, three children and six grandchildren.
I joined the RAN in the same intake with Doug and several others whom I still remember as we traveled by train from Brisbane to Sydney then onto Melbourne.
Some of the ships and depot's Doug served in during the his RAN period of service:
Cerberus,Voyager July 59 - May 60, Harmon, Supply, Penguin, Platypus
Doug's service will be at the:
Parkview Chapel of Allambe Gardens,
129 Nerang Broadbeach Road,
Nerang,
Thursday 8th May 11:00am
On behalf of all Voyagers and other ESO as well as ex Naval persons we pass along to Doug's family and friends our sincere condolences over their very sad loss.
