Gi'Day Les, Brenda & John,
The Old Fellow (67) got a good send off. There were >100 people there, family, friends, former work-mates & ex-service colleagues. Dawn held up very well and the children were very supportive of her. There was not a dry eye in the church. Ex-crew members from Voyager, Duchess, Perth (the ones I recognised) were part of the ex-service contingent of about 25, there was even an ex-Boot-Nick (Royal Marine) in the congregation. Eric was a very popular member of his local RSL Sub Branch (Armadale/Kelmscott) & a red hot darts player.
2. I put in cards from both the "All Crews" and the Survivors' Association but did not speak to any family member. Peter Jarvis (Perth Association) passed on condolences on our behalf.
3. If there can be such a thing as a "good funeral" - Eric certainly had one.
Kind regards
David MacLean
