Re: "Greenies" Gallery
G'Day DOC,
Nice photo - Did you dig deep into the archives for that one? Thanks for registering on the New Forum. I sent out an Email earlier today for as many people as I had Email addresses in the hopes that would kick this Forum into more action. No, I won't ask YET !! for anyone to volunteer to become moderators. As administrator and moderator for the time being it should be easy enough. Down track might be a different matter.
Very few know about it at this stage as I only created it a few days ago. I would think that most do not know how to use a Forum of this type so time will tell. You actually beat me to it as I was going to add a topic "Where have all the GREENIES gone" This one you have created will do fine. The COOKS have a pretty good Forum setup and I added a link to their Forum into the Links Menu of the Website today. Errol is going to provide a link back to our site and also posting a Voyagers Email call out to his some 700 members asking for ex Voyagers to contact us if they do not already know.

Thanks Les.
Now that the lights are on and Dutchy has got over his birthday celebrations we might see a few post and contact a few old shipmates

Better get the "run ashore" gear ready.
Spoke to Huey Lyons on the week-end he hopes that the chemo will patch him up enoigh to get there too
Must say That I am really looking forward to seeing you all there as well, should be a great turn out and thanks to the committee organising it

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Pass on our best wishes to Huey next time you chat with him. I remeber him well from Cerberous days and a few other spots along the way. Was not aware of him undergoing Chemo so I hope all goes well with him in that respect.
Unfortunately we cannot communicate with him via the Interent as we have no Email address for him. I do know he is booked to attend the Feb reunion along with many others at this time. This will be the largest gathering of Voyagers ever and I can assure everyone attending they are in for some great surprises.
Cheers

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Huey Lyons is still battling on and has now moved from his house in Emu Park to a retirement village in Rockhampton.
Am waiting on a call from him to give me his new phone number
says he hopes to be well enough to make it to Ballina
I hope so

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
A haunting experience when I looked at the "Crossed the bar" board
Starting with Louie Arboit and ending with Merv. Eastgate, there are three others, Huey Lyons, Vince Macabe and Bob Moule, all of whom served with me in '59 and '60.
So I hope as you read this that you are in fine fettle and enjoying life

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
As I read your entry I am enjoying life, just one minor hitch. I notched up another mile post yesterday (the dreaded 69 year) Hope the next ones slow down a little.
Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Many happy returns (belated) for Monday, sorry I missed it
Just think, at 69 you still have not reached your "used by" date and after that they put a "Special" label on you and stick you in the bargain basket

G'day Doc,
Thought I would stick my head in the Greenies workshop and see if you are awake.
Hope you don't mind a chippie coming in to annoy you every now and then.
Cheers

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Are we going to see many of the Greenies at the Ballina Greenies reunion rapidly approaching now. Only a few short weeks to go and the FESR reunion has finished today at the Tweed RSL. Hopefully we will have some photos to publish on the Websites after it is all over and I will add a link to the FESR website photos once I have them all done. Hope to see a few familiar faces at the Greenies reunion.

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Well, the Greenies Reunion in Ballina went over perfectly with mild weather conditions and the Sunday session brunch at TS Lismore was a great touch to the event. Well done to Darrell and the rest of the team in their organising of the whole weekend event. I am looking forward to the next one whenever / wherever. I will have several photos in a photo slide show added to the FESR website Photo Album menu in a few days time. I am sure I speak on behalf of all who attended, BZ guys for a well organised event. Re: "Greenies" Gallery
The year ended on a sad note with the passing of the two Dons
Donald "Tug" Wilson and Don Duncan both from the West and by coincidence will be buried at the same time on Jan 4th.
Here's hoping that this year is much brighter
Happy New Year one and all for 2011

No doubt that you all are pleased to read that the award OAM has been given to our own Bernie "Dutchy"Verwayen
The downside is that he will have to have his medal rack done again to include the new award.
Well done mate

Re: "Greenies" Gallery
Thanks Doc - It was a very good day with a Sunday breakfast at the Kedron/Wavell RSL in the old Coral Seas Restaurant. Couldn't eat another thing all day. The only downside was another mile post gone by and definitely not looking forward to the next one. These damn days seem to come around too soon.
