Remembering the Eighty Two men

This is my personal entry to pay respects to the eighty two men (eighty one Shipmates and one Civilian) who perished on the night of 10th February 1964 when the Aircraft Carrier HMAS Melbourne collided with and sunk the Australian Daring Class Destroyer HMAS Voyager D04.

I and my wife Irene are traveling to Jervis Bay on the 9th February for the RAN managed 50th Commemorative Service. We will be boarding HMAS Chouleson the morning of the 10th February along with some 200 other HMAS Voyager Survivors families, Survivors, and many others involved in the rescue operation following the fateful collision.

I have arranged for a QLD RSL supplied floral wreath to be collected in Nowra on the evening of the 9th to be cast over the location of HMAS Voyager. The wreath will also have an attached card on behalf of all ex Voyagers and families unable to be at the service on HMAS Choules. Also attached to the wreath will be a A4 print with the 82 names, Crossed flags and Voyager crest. (See Image below)

I have also created a special video clip to be included in the new DVD (HMAS Voyager - A Final Tribute)which will include photos and video from this 10th February. The special video clip is a combination of copyright material supplied with permission from the US.

Remembering the Eighty Two Men Empty The HMAS Voyager 51st

Post by Dutchy805 Mon 02 Feb 2015, 11:05

Hi Les,
On the eve of the 51st anniversary I shall add the names of each of the 82 to my facebook group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/RAN.Obituaries/. Could I also post your excellent commemorative '82 with crossed flags and HMAS Voyager Crest' plaque at the same time? To that end Les, is there a URL for this item to enable the best quality post? I note you are located in Brisbane which is where I engaged 'til April '88 as a 64 Flinders JR.
I am now at Surfers and have a Navy group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/RANandFAA/.
Yours Aye, Ray 'Dutchy' Brauer
