Vale - Joseph Alexander Schmitz (Smith)
So sad that we have to make such a late entry for Joe as we were not made aware of his situation.
Joe crossed the bar on 10th July 2018 after being ill for a long period and finally being taken by the battle with pneumonia.
Joe enlisted in the RAN in October 1955 but prior to that had to change his name from Schmitz to Smith to allow enlistment. He later changed his name back to Smith several years after his enlistment expired. Joe served 6 years and initially signed on as a Rct Cook but quickly requested and changed to a Rct CB discharging as a Sig in 1962.
During his enlisted period Joe served in the following:
Ships : HMAS Cerberus,HMAS Albatross,HMAS Quadrant,HMAS Queenborough,HMASVoyager,HMAS Warramunga,HMAS Kuttabul,HMAS Melville,HMAS Anzac
Joe is sadly missed by loved ones, his wife Pat and several children and friends.
We offer our condolences to all Joe's family and friends and wish him a restful and peaceful life in God's Kingdom.

RIP Joe and free from all pain. We will meet again hopefully smooth seas and gentle breezes.
